  • Medical emergencies can occur in the Dental practice at any time. The Australian Dental Association (ADA) recommends regular "hands on" training to ensure Dentist and their teams remain current (ada.org.au).

This comprehensive course has been created specifically for the dental practice and covers the most common medical emergencies in the dental practice including syncope (fainting), chest pain, hypoglycaemia, seizures, choking, asthma, anaphylaxis and stroke. Training includes advanced airway management skills and the use of first line emergency drugs.

Utilising best practice guidelines from the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and a combination of online and simulation-based training, learners will also complete annual Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training.

Staff will gain knowledge and confidence through the use of a clear, structured and methodical primary assessment approach to the recognition and treatment of the acutely ill patient.

As a medical emergency requires a highly co-ordinated team-based approach this course also teaches Crisis Resource Management (CRM) including preparation, team work, communication & leadership through the use of simulation-based training.
